Port of Tvøroyri ranks among the largest in the Faroe Islands

The Port of Tvøroyri is the central hub of the town’s commercial life. Here we host one of the largest pelagic processing plants in the Nordic region – Varðin Pelagic. We also have the saltfish producer Delta Seafood, RBT Timber Merchant, and the shipping and logistics company Faroe Ship. A large share of the municipality’s fishing boats are also based here.

Shipping traffic today is not as extensive as in earlier times, but it is important to remember that a modern vessel carries as much cargo as several of the older ships that the port once relied upon.

The Port of Tvøroyri also encompasses the harbour at Drelnes and the quay at Hvítanes.

In recent years, the inner harbour has been modernised making it both a landmark for the old and new town and a place where people regularly gather to enjoy time together.

The foundations of all port operations in the Faroe Islands were laid at Tvøroyri on 15 August 1924. Now more than a 100 years later, the Port of Tvøroyri continues to be a centre of strong maritime activity.

The port is open 24/7 and all service is available around the clock.
