The Town Council consists of seven members, who are elected in accordance with the applicable provisions of the municipal election legislation. The Town Council elects a Mayor by majority vote for the entire electoral term, and the position of Mayor is a full-time post.
The Town Council adopts rules of procedure that set out regulations on preparation, convening of meetings, how meetings are to be conducted, and case-handling procedures.
Public meetings are normally held once a month. Extraordinary meetings are convened when the Mayor deems it necessary, or when one third of the members so request.
A Town Council or committee member may obtain information from the municipal administration by contacting the Municipal Director.
This arrangement ensures that the Town Council operates efficiently and transparently, and that its members have the necessary resources and information to make well-founded decisions on behalf of the municipality.
