The municipalities of Suðuroy have appointed Jens Arni Leo Hammerfoss as Integration Coordinator. Jens Arni will assume the position on 1 August 2026.
In recent years, Jens Arni has worked as a teacher at Glasir. He holds a Master of Arts (cand.mag.) in Philosophy and History and has extensive knowledge of Faroese society, local communities, and the social structures that shape citizens’ daily lives.
“We are pleased to welcome Jens Arni to this position. He has relevant academic qualifications, professional experience, and a strong understanding of Faroese society. We are confident that he will play an important role in ensuring successful integration and creating good conditions for new residents in Suðuroy,” the municipalities stated jointly.
The Integration Coordinator will, among other responsibilities, provide guidance and support to new residents, coordinate activities and initiatives, and work across sectors in collaboration with municipalities, institutions, organizations, and other local stakeholders.
The cooperation on the Integration Coordinator position includes the municipalities of Hvalba, Tvøroyri, Fámjin, Hov, Porkeri, Vágur, and Sumba.
